Drinking water project: Many people have no access to clean water in many Indian villages. They often have to walk for miles to carry water home. Mostly it is the work of women and children. For this reason many children aren’t able to go to school. Water is life. So we have set ourselves the target of building water fountains in seve-ral villages.

Street and garbage children

 Street and garbage children

Every Saturday morning approximately 600-800 street but also garbage children come to the center Don Bosco Nitika to a game morning. Some of them already attend a school. The children get a vitamin juice, a powder that is mixed with water. Afterwards different games are played with the children. Approximately 25 teachers who teach at Don Bosco are present and look after the children

Seamstresses

Seamstresses

18 women are trained in the centre of Don Bosco Nitika for a year as seamstresses. The sewing training takes place at different days a week, not daily. After a year of sewing training the women have to pass an exam. After passing the exam, each woman receives a sewing machine worth about 180 € from us. From time to time, a larger electric sewing machine which remains at the centre is purchased, it costs about € 300.

Construction of schools

Molloth lies in a side valley of Sonada. There hasn’t been any school till now. It took school children many hours to walk to school. We started building the school last year in order to relieve them from this burden.

Rachitis

Rachitis

Today a Rachitis prophylaxis definitely belongs to the medical baby supply. Possibly the mother milk doesn’t contain enough vitamin D, therefore the ba-bies get vitamin D from the doctors, mostly in the form of droplets. Shillong lies approximately on 1700 m above the sea-level. It is a very infertile area. The people live in humiliating circumstances. They have no electricity and no heating.
